Professional soil analysis is an important tool we use when establishing and maintaining a fine lawn. Soil testing is the best scientific method available to evaluate the nutritional status of the soil. Nutrient stresses and imbalances can reduce plant vigor, which increases the plant’s susceptibility to damage from drought, disease, insects, and other conditions.

We take numerous samples of soil throughout your lawn and send them to our regional lab for testing. The sample usually takes about two to three weeks to come back. Once we receive the results, we will prepare a report about the test results. The report is emailed to you if we have a current email address, or we will mail it.

In the report, we will explain how much lime is required to adjust the pH level of your soil. The ideal pH level is around 6.3-6.5. If lime is required, we will spell out how much lime and the total number of additional applications required to make the desired pH change. It will also outline the additional cost. The price will include labor, materials, and clean up for all applications needed. You won't have to do a thing. The levels of the primary nutrients, phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) are also measured. If your soil is deficient in either of these nutrients, we will add the necessary amount to your program at no additional charge.

The soil test gives us additional scientific data about your soil that can be used to diagnose special problems in your lawn. The soil scientists at our regional lab are always there to help us work out even the toughest problems by offering their recommendations.

Soil testing should be repeated every three years. It will be automatically scheduled as long as you have our annual lawn care program.
