Core Aeration is one of the most important lawn maintenance practices.
It has many benefits:

Aids the movement of air, water and nutrients into the soil

Helps breakdown thatch

Increases percolation and infiltration

Relieves soil compaction

Stimulates root development
Core aeration should be done regularly to every lawn. If the soil is heavy (clay) annual aeration is
recommended. Core aeration can be performed in early spring or fall. Organic Topdressing in conjunction with
aeration is a good way to work organic matter into the soil.
